Miami Proper is the performance and documentation of a bilingual radio broadcast of Juan Gelman’s “The Poems of Sidney West” throughout the streets of Miami, Florida. Utilizing a FM radio transmitter made mobile via the artist’s pickup truck, Jordan Marty embarked on a course that disseminated the text of a fictional American cowboy’s laments – albeit fleetingly – to the listening audience within the city proper (performance image below).
